EducationI have a BA in Psychology from Penn State with a 3.5 GPA.
I am an 11th and 12th grade English teacher at Council Rock South High School. I've been in education for a few years and worked with students from 7th to 12th grade as well as autistic students.
ExperienceI've been working as a tutor for three years now. I began when I worked at an overnight summer camp working with students as young as 10 years old up to 15. Since then I have tutored high school students, often for the SAT both privately and with the company StudyPoint. I find that I have been effective with students of all ages and learning abilities, ranging from special needs to students pursuing acceptance in the Ivy League.
Beyond my qualifications I truly enjoy tutoring and I suppose that is why I've done it for years and continue to do so. I enjoy academia and take joy facilitating learning and progress where students sometimes struggle. I enjoy helping and watching someone else learn as much as I enjoy learning myself.
Having worked extensively with a number of students already I've found that I have been quite effective. So far all of my SAT students have scored at least 100 points higher after working with me than the previously had, some nearly 200 points. In subject areas I have seen students' improvements from failing grades up to 'B' range and average grades up to 'A' range.
-Have all necessary clearances (i.e. criminal history, FBI clearance) required for teaching in public schools
HobbiesI am very much an active person. I have played traditional sports my entire life and more recently have acquired a taste for the outdoors and less traditional sports. I actively play/do/coach all of the following to some capacity:
Outside of sports I enjoy music of all kinds, reading, writing, art, (although I am terrible at art myself I do appreciate it) history, and travel.
